Big Idea
God reveals himself through creation and through Scripture so that we might know him, trust him, and respond to him.
Part 1: The Voice of Creation (Psalm 19:1-6)
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” (Psalm 19:1, ESV).
David teaches that creation is constantly communicating truths about God. Day after day and night after night, the world around us points us to its Creator.
Two Things Creation Reveals About God (though there are many others)
1. God is Powerful
The vastness of the universe reveals God's incredible power.
The God who created and maintains trillions of galaxies is able to handle the details of our lives.
2. God is Generous
God did not merely give us what we need to survive; He filled the world with beauty, variety, and delight.
Every good gift points to his generous heart.
Why This Matters
Creation reveals enough about God for us to know that he exists, that he is powerful, and that he is worthy of worship. However, creation alone cannot tell us how to be forgiven, how to be saved, or how to know God personally.
Reflection Questions
What aspects of creation most often remind you of God?
How does God's power encourage you in your current circumstances?
What gifts from God's creation are you most thankful for?
When was the last time you intentionally paused to worship God because of something you observed in creation?
Practice This Week
Spend 10–15 minutes outdoors each day.
Observe something in creation and ask:
What does this reveal about God's power?
What does this reveal about God's generosity?
End with a prayer of praise.
Part 2: The Voice of Scripture (Psalm 19:7–14)
While creation reveals much about God, Scripture reveals God more specifically and personally. David highlights the beauty, reliability, and value of God's Word.
1. God's Word Gives Us Truth We Can Trust
“The testimony of the Lord is sure…” (Psalm 19:7, ESV)
Reflection Questions
What voices compete for your trust?
How can you build your life more intentionally on God's unchanging Word rather than on the shifting sands of an ever-changing culture and its moral values?
2. God's Word Gives Joy to Our Hearts
“The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart…” (Psalm 19:8, ESV)
The deepest joy available to human beings is knowing God. Scripture brings joy because it helps us know him more fully.
Reflection Questions
Do you view Bible reading primarily as a duty or as an opportunity to know God?
How has Scripture brought comfort, encouragement, or joy into your life?
Practice
Before reading Scripture this week, pray: “God, help me know you more through your Word today.”
3. God's Word Is Treasure Beyond Compare
“More to be desired are they than gold…” (Psalm 19:10, ESV)
Reflection Questions
What competes with God's Word for your attention and affection?
Does your daily schedule reflect the value you place on Scripture?
Practice
Set aside a specific time each day this week to read God's Word before engaging with social media, news, or entertainment.
Responding to God's Revelation
Psalm 19 ends with David's response:
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14, ESV)
The only proper response to God's revelation of himself is worship and obedience.
Reflection Questions
How is God calling you to respond to what he has revealed?
Is there an area of your life that needs to come into greater alignment with his will?
Prayer
"Father, thank you for revealing yourself through creation, through Scripture, and ultimately through Jesus Christ. Help me obey your will, trust your Word, and live in such a way that every word of my mouth and every meditation of my heart honors you. In Jesus' name, amen."

Talk About It
Ask:
What is your favorite thing God created?
What does that tell you about God?
Possible answers:
Mountains show his power.
Flowers show his creativity.
Food shows his generosity.
The stars show his greatness.
Ask:
Why is the Bible important?
What can we learn from the Bible that creation cannot teach us?
Help children understand:
Creation tells us God exists.
The Bible tells us how much God loves us.
The Bible tells us about Jesus.
The Bible shows us how to follow God.
Family Activity
Creation Walk
Take a short family walk. Have each person point out one thing they see and answer:
“What does this tell us about God?”
Examples:
Tree → God is strong.
Flower → God is creative.
Sunset → God loves beauty.
Birds → God cares for his creation.
Finish by thanking God for what you observed.
Family Scripture Challenge
Memorize Psalm 19:1 together:
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”
Talk about what that verse means throughout the week.
Family Prayer
"God, thank you for showing us who you are through the world you made and through your Word. Help us pay attention to your will. Help us to trust you and follow Jesus every day. In Jesus' name, amen."
