Sermon Guide for February 22, 2026
How to Use This Guide:
These guides are designed to help you engage more deeply with my weekly sermon. Use this guide to prepare your heart to receive God's Word before worship, or to reflect on God's Word the week following worship.
Parents, use the information in this guide (especially in the "Family Practice" section) to have meaningful conversations with your kids that nurture their faith and help them grow in God’s love.

Big Idea
Jesus stands at the center of everything—as Maker, Meaning, Sustainer, and Restorer—so we can trust him with our lives.
Main Points
Jesus Is the Maker (vv. 15–16)
The one who walked the roads of Galilee spoke galaxies into existence.
“Firstborn” means supreme—not created.
If Jesus made everything, he has ultimate authority.
If Jesus is Creator, he gets to define reality—not culture, not politics, not us.
Jesus Is the Meaning (v. 16)
You were created to know and glorify Jesus.
Purpose is not found in location or job, but in Christ-centered living.
Nothing in your life is spiritually neutral.
Jesus Is the Sustainer (v. 17)
The universe is not held together by chance, but by Christ.
If he can hold the cosmos together, he can hold your life together.
Jesus Is the Restorer (vv. 18–20)
The Creator entered creation.
The Sustainer shed his blood.
Jesus made peace by absorbing the consequence of sin.
Personal Reflection
Take time this week to reflect on these questions:
Where do I feel like things are “coming apart”?
In what area of my life am I trying to act as the sustainer instead of trusting Jesus?
What part of my life needs to be reoriented toward Christ?
Is Jesus at the center of my decisions, priorities, and identity?
Practice for the Week: Each morning, pray: “Jesus, you made everything. Everything exists for you. You hold everything together. Help me trust you today.”
Family Practice
Family Conversation Starters
What does it mean that Jesus made everything?
Why do you think everything exists for Jesus?
What is something you worry about that you need to trust Jesus with?
Pray together, asking God to help you make Jesus the center of your family.
